Newcastle United are set to try to land Arsenal starlet Jeremie Aliadiere on loan to boost their striking options.

Newcastle boss Glenn Roeder is keen on the 23-year-old Frenchman, and was at Anfield in midweek to see him rip Liverpool apart in the Carling Cup encounter.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger does not want to sell Aliadiere, but appreciates his desire to be a regular Premiership starter, and so will consider loaning him out.

This could boost the Geordies fight in the mid-table as Aliadiere seems to be in red hot form at the moment.
