Wenger Fabregas Nasri Injuries Arshavin Van Persie Wilshere Champions LeaguePublished: May 19, 2008
Bakary Sagna, the best right back in the premier league this season, is not happy at all. In fact he is furious. Rightly so, because the French national coach Raymond Domenech has left him out of the provisional squad. Instead he called up Willy Sagnol and Francois Clerc who had a very average season. On an interview given to RMC radio station by him, he said,
“I deserved it, I think I did my best, I have been voted best right back in France and then in England in the last two years. “My injury came at the right moment because it is an excuse.“Many people must be happy with it.“I expected it because when there was no right back in the team, they played a number 6 [Diarra], next time why not a striker?”
He has a point. You always play your best players, and the moment Sagna is the best there is. Unless ofcourse Sagna followed in the footsteps of Robert Pires and Ludovic Giuly.
Meanwhile, Philippe Senderos has refuted all claims of him leaving the club this summer. He said,
“I still have a contract with two years left on it and the boss wants me to stay. I’m also very happy in London so yes I still hope to be there next season.“
This is a very good news in my opinion. He played very well in absence of Toure and was rock solid. If you compare the mistakes made by our defenders this season, he is the second best after Sagna. That says a lot about the quality of this humble Swiss boy who speaks six languages.
Stuttgart have told Mad Jens that they can’t offer him as much salary as he used to get in Arsenal. Jens will be playing in the Euro 08, after which he is supposed to take a decision. Incase he does agree to take a pay cut and play for Stuttgart, what are the odds of him standing on the toes of his own team mates?
The boss said the team will come out stronger next year. He said,
“We have combined quality with efficiency, but lacked a bit of experience to make the final step.”
This is true. Only if we had someone to take the role of a leader, to inspire and lead by example. Unlike someone who sat on the pitch with his back turned to the team as they conceded a penalty. Well, will talk about it some other time. Time for transfer news.
Samir Nasri has hinted that he will leave for another club in the summer. And there are reports in the internet that we have already signed him for 14 million GBP and we will be announcing the deal shortly. Will have to wait for some reliable sources to confirm that.
Meanwhile, the press have linked us with Alberto Aquilani and Delgado. And a whole host of other nonsense players including Louis Saha that I am not bothered to write about.
I’ll be back with more tomorrow.
