hangelandFollowing the season when Arsenal’s defensive frailities were laid bare by not only the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea but also by the likes of Stoke City and Hull City, the club would be looking to shore up their back-line. Arsenal boasts of the best full-backs in the league, however, it is the central partnership that has let the team down this season. With the Toure – Gallas partnership turning out to be a flop, the team needs a reliable centre back  and the team management have identified Fulham’s Brede Hangelend as the potential target. The big Norwegian scored the only goal in Arsenal’s one-nil defeat at Craven Cottage.  It is understood that the Gunners are lining up a £8 million bid for the defender. With such interests from a top club, Fulham manager Roy Hodgson conceded that it would be difficult to stop him from leaving.  “We’ll do everything in our power to keep Brede. Everyone knows he’s a player that we love. He’s still contracted to us and we want to keep him. We’re doing everything in our power – but our power sometimes can’t be compared to the power of other clubs,” said Hodgson.
