Arsenal beat Standard Liege 2-0 to top Group H and book a place in the next round of UEFA Champions League. Arsenal scored the first goal in the 35th minute, when Samir Nasri took advantage of a slip by Landry Mulemo, and expertly guided the ball with his right foot past goalkeeper Sinan Bolat. Denilson doubled the advantage in the first-half injury-time. His 30-30 yard volley swerved at the very last-minute to beat the Liege goalkeeper. All didn’t end well for Arsenal though, as William Gallas suffered a swollen eye and Andrei Arshavin sustained a head injury when both players’ head clashed when trying to head a Fabregas corner. Kieran Gibbs broke the first metatarsal on his right foot, while Liege’s Mehdi Carcela-Gonzalez was sent off for a headbutt on Fabregas.
