Van Persie Injured, May Miss Three Months thumbnail

Robin van Persie suffered a horrific ankle injury in yesterday’s friendly game against Italy and may be ruled out for at least three months. Initial reports suggested that the striker had suffered torn ligaments. “The ankle ligaments are definitely torn. After the match our medical staff did not mention a break in the bone but the doctors will be able to tell us for sure. It does not look too good,” a Dutch Football Association official told BBC Sport. However, if x-ray reports show a broken bone, Van Persie will be out for the rest of the season. Van Persie had a brilliant season for Arsenal so far, scoring eight goals in 15 appearances in all competitions. Arsenal are yet to issue a statement on the true nature of the Dutchman’s injury.
