Wenger Fabregas Team Injuries Arshavin Van Persie Eduardo Champions LeaguePublished: January 17, 2010
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is said to be monitoring Dinamo Zagreb striker Mario Mandzukic. Arsenal, although the form team in the League, are short of a striker. Robin van Persie is out for the season and Nicklas Bendtner is still short of full match fitness. Eduardo da Silva’s form hasn’t been great either, forcing Wenger to deploy Andrei Arshavin as the front man. The 23-year-old, 6′2″ Croatian has been identified as the player to spearhead the Arsenal attack. Wenger, although acknowledged that he was looking for a striker, refused to confirm his interest in Mandzukic. He said, “I am thinking about signing a striker but I must confess I am not close to doing anything because I do not find a player who can convince me.”
